Dr Shivani Patel

Dr Shivani Patel is a Visiting Endocrinologist at St. Vincent’s Hospital Sydney, a PhD candidate at the University of New South Wales and Garvan Institute of Medical Research and a Conjoint Associate Lecturer at the University of New of South Wales.
Dr Patel completed her Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery at Western Sydney University, following which she undertook her junior medical and basic physician training at Westmead Hospital. She completed her Endocrinology specialist training at Campbelltown Hospital and St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney.
She has a keen interest in atypical forms of diabetes and is currently undertaking a research study which aims to improve the understanding of autoantibody-negative type 1 diabetes as part of her PhD. She is involved in teaching medical students and training doctors through her Conjoint Associate Lecturer role. She has published her research in peer-reviewed journals and presented at national diabetes and endocrinology meetings. She enjoys attending annual conferences and strives to keep up-to-date to deliver evidence-based care.
Dr Patel’s commitment to all areas of Endocrinology, including all forms of diabetes (including type 1, type 2, gestational), thyroid disorders, obesity, PCOS and general endocrinology. Her patient-centred approach makes Dr Patel a dedicated, caring Endocrinologist.
